April 17, 1975 marks a very important day for Khmer people. A day which people were supposed to be celebrating New Years and cheering for the ending of a war was turned into something very dangerous in a matter of a few hours. When the Khmer Rouge (reds) marched in with big tanks, everyone knew what was about to happen. Soon this group began lying to the people by saying the city would be bombed in a few days and they had to evacuate- however no such thing ever happened. The next four years were beyond what anyone could imagine; hell was evident on Earth. Nobody in the world knew of this event and the all outside ties we once had were put to an end.

R.I.P to those victims who have died during those four years. And if you know anyone who has survived this genocide, make sure to give them a hug because honestly- they are very strong fighters who not only fought to live here but also fought to survive during this time.
